EnglishConnect 3 is designed to help international learners enhance their English skills in preparation for participation in BYU-Pathway Worldwide. The program includes online submissions for speaking and writing practice.

EC3 reviewers focus on scoring and providing constructive feedback on these submissions, helping learners advance their language proficiency and succeed in university classes. Reviewing is done anonymously through an online queue.

Reviewers utilize their expertise and subject matter knowledge to assess student work, adhering to program-developed rubrics and feedback templates. They follow established policies and procedures to ensure accurate and consistent grading, actionable feedback, and timely turnaround times.

QUALIFICATIONS

EC3 reviewers will focus on scoring and providing helpful feedback for EC3 learners on speaking and writing submissions to help them advance in their language skills and be successful in university classes.

Education

  • University TESOL certificate or TESOL endorsement preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in English, linguistics, or a related field preferred
  • Experience teaching in an academic English program a plus
  • Successful completion of an EC3 Applicant Assessment course

Skills

  • An ability to produce clear, well-organized, and grammatically correct writing that models accurate English for language learners.
  • An ability to accurately understand spoken English submissions from learners around the world. Reviewers must be able to focus on meaning even when speech includes language errors or non-standard pronunciation.
  • An ability to follow and apply strict procedures and guidelines with accuracy and efficiency
  • An ability to maintain focus (even through repetitive tasks) while also managing complex cognitive loads
  • An ability to adapt quickly to new processes and procedures and also new technology
  • Strong interpersonal skills— specifically an ability to be considerate, respectful, unbiased, and professional in emotionally charged situations
  • Strong track record of reliability in following through on commitments and getting the job done properly and in a timely manner (with little prompting)

Other Requirements

  • High Speed internet connection always available
  • Access to a computer that is in good working condition
  • Ecclesiastical Clearance – you should be in good standing with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
  • NBI or Police Clearance (whichever is more convenient for you to obtain) as part of our background check.

CONTRACTING DETAILS

Compensation

Reviewers are paid a flat rate of ₱27,500 per semester contracted. First time reviewers will also receive a one-time ₱5,500 training fee during their first semester as a reviewer. For Block contracts Reviewers will receive half of the semester rates.

Conflicts of Interest

Individuals who are currently employed by any entity of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who are retired from Church employment, employed as a peer mentor or are serving as Pathway Missionaries are not eligible.

Time Commitment

Reviewers spend an average of 10-12 hours per week and should be checking the queue at least 5 days each week. New reviewers often take additional time while they become familiar with the tools, processes and other requirements.

Systems and Resources

You will be provided access to systems and resources that will make it possible for you to review efficiently and effectively while still being able to provide quality feedback to students.

Working Hours

The schedule is flexible but is primarily dictated by student submissions. You should check the queue for assignments to be reviewed on a daily basis and be available to help ensure assignments get turned around within 24 hours of student submission.

Location

As an independently contracted online reviewer, you will be home based and can work from wherever is most convenient for you, however you must reside in the Philippines.

Application Screening

Candidates apply by clicking the “Apply Now” button below, filling out the form, and submitting an updated resume. Your application information will be screened by experienced trainers to confirm you meet the online grader eligibility requirements.

Skills Assessment

If your information meets all of the eligibility requirements, you will be sent an invitation to complete a skills assessment. Passing this assessment is required to be considered for position placement.

Position Placement

If you qualify, your assessment is retained for future consideration as contracting needs arise. If contracted, you will receive an intent to contract email with an assignment for a specific course to grade.
